Practical Nursing
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse provides direct patient bedside care such as personal hygiene, treatments, and medication administration.

- Classes begin in January and July
- Application Deadline: December 3rd for January class; June 13th for July class
- Approximately 60 students selected for each class
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed Application Process
- Composite ACT Score of 17 or above is required
- Composite ACT Score of 19 is required if High School GPA is below 2.0 or GED score is below 47
- Nurse Entrance Test with a minimum Jr. High math and reading level is required
- High School Diploma or passing GED required
PRE REQUISITES:
- Nutrition – General Education Course (may be taken as a co-requisite with Semester I)
CO REQUISITES:
- Anatomy & Physiology II with lab– General Education Course (taken as a co requisite with Semester I only if Anatomy and Physiology I with lab is approved as a transfer credit prior to Semester I). If A&P I has not been successfully completed it can be taken within the PN curriculum.

What if I don’t make a 17 or above on the ACT?
The BAPTIST HEALTH School of Practical Nursing requires an ACT Composite Score of 17 or above for admission. If you do not score a 17 or above, we recommend that you re-test. Generally, students are able to increase their score with each time they take the ACT. We also recommend that you use a study guide or preparatory course that is specifically designed for the ACT.
How many days a week will I be in class?
As a student in the BAPTIST HEALTH School of Practical Nursing, you will be in class 5 days per week.
Do you offer night or online classes?
At this time, the BAPTIST HEALTH School of Practical Nursing does not offer classes at night or online.
